"Being awarded the scholarship her senior year was very impactful on my daughter, Rebecca. As a parent, I think that it gave her a sense of accomplishment and confidence. My daughter was well aware of the talent that surrounded her in the group of students vying for the scholarship that year, she didn’t think she would “win”. The audition/ interview process is rigorous, as it should be for a sizable award. Kids pursuing their passions will endure these types of challenges as they chase their dreams. As they enter college, they are surrounded by talented and passionate students; the boost of confidence in being honored with Brians’ scholarship may have helped her self-assurance in college.
The fact that interview team saw her talent, passion and drive to succeed in music therapy drove her towards reaching her goals. The fact that Brian is invested in his “rock stars” was an added and unexpected support and guidance for her. She appreciated the fact that Brian kept track of the kids he had awarded his scholarship to and continued to follow and support them during college and afterwards." KELLY DePUMPO

UPDATE: Becca is working very hard in Rhode Island, working for a non-profit music therapy organization, Hands in Harmony. She is a true leader there, training new staff, and supervising students in addition to her large workload seeing many clients each day. She continues to love music therapy and the difference she can make in so many people’s lives through music daily. This January, she also started a new endeavor- she is now an adjunct college professor, teaching a class at the University of Rhode Island in the music therapy department.
